Engaged! Mandy + Taylor

They met during Mandy’s freshman year at JMU on a bus headed to William & Mary for the JMU football game. Running late for the bus meant she had to sit on the front seat. As fate would have it, beside the Grad Assistant of the Duke Club, Taylor, who mainly talked while Mandy & her roommate giggled. “I had a crush on him by the time we got to William and Mary”. Taylor invited the ladies to attend church the next morning, quickly becoming best friends thru sophomore year  until he asked her to be his gal on the steps of Wilson Hall. They sealed the deal at the “Kissing Rock”, just to make sure they didn’t jinx the legend of marrying the one you kiss on the rock.  No longer the girl that he came to when he needed girl advice, instead she was THE girl for him. And she had been there all along.

Taylor still makes Mandy giggle, just as he did on that first meeting on the bus. Heck, they make me giggle. It’s so obvious these two are head over heels in love, sharing a sense of humor, obsession with the Dukes, sweet doggy June & devotion to God. Mandy you are absolutely gorgeous with a contagious smile that makes Taylor’s eyes sparkle as bright as your incredible engagement ring! (doesn’t she remind you of Kristen Davis aka “Charlotte” from Sex & The City? Katie Holmes too). Taylor you did good! And your connections that got us private access to the football field are golden (now if I could just get that for VT…). I am so super excited & honored to be photographing their wedding this summer, the perfect mix of southern elegance with school spirit. Go Dukes!

Meet Samson

I honestly never thought it would work out. When I received Samson as an unexpected & (at the time) unwanted surprise  I was a little ticked.  I was busy girl who stayed on the road, in & out, sometimes not knowing if I was coming on going. I could barely remember to take care of myself, much less another breathing creature. We never really had pets as kids since they usually fell victim to the main highway in front of our house or my Dad was allergic, so we just kinda gave up on trying to have a pet. Three years later, not much has changed except the fact that I fell madly, deeply in love with that little fuzzy bugger within days. So much so that I can’t imagine not having him around. He loves me unconditionally, runs to greet me at the door, anxious to get in my lap to keep me company during late night editing sessions. When the alarm goes off for the 3rd time, he’s usually right there to start rubbing on my face, playfully biting my chin so I don’t oversleep (or maybe he’s just annoyed at the buzzing). When I’m in the shower he literally knocks on the door because he is pawing so hard, trying to get in since he is always the curious kitty & doesn’t like to be behind closed doors.  He has an obsession with laser beams, plastic grocery bags & cardboard boxes. Sometimes he heads to bed & is already claimed his spot before I get there. I cried when he had a life-threatening UT blockage that required surgery last year & I haven’t batted an eye at buying prescription food since, whatever is best for my Sammy boo! I could so be an old cat lady. By the looks of it, I just might.

Monday shouldn’t be a working day.

Just another Manic Monday…ooooweoooo wish it was Sunday ooooweoooo….’cause that’s my funday ooooweoooo ….my I don’t have to run day ooooweoooo,  just another Manic Monday.

Mondays require lots of steaming hot coffee, sour patch kids (the new berry flavors are oh so yummy) and 80′s tunes to get me thru alive.
